It's when a syllable is pronounced with greater force than other syllables in the same word.

它是指同一个单词中某个音节比其他音节发音更重。

The stress can be placed on any syllable in a word, so you have to learn how to do this correctly.

重音可以在单词中的任何音节上,所以你必须学会如何正确地重读。

But fortunately, there are some word stress patterns that can help you.

Some two-syllable words in English look the same for the noun and the verb.

英语中一些双音节单词的名词和动词看起来是一样的。

And for some of these, when the word is a noun, the stress is on the first syllable.

These words keep the same stress pattern when being nouns and verbs.

Multi-syllable words in English tend to put the main stress on the third syllable from the end.

Although there are plenty of exceptions, this pattern is very useful.
